Our Philosophy
Chicks Climbing promotes self reliance by teaching and focusing on technical skills to help women become more equal climbing partners. The theme of all of our ice and rock climbing clinics is “Women Climbing with Women, for Women”. We promote women’s empowerment, the spirit of service, and giving back to the community. Chicks Climbing gives back to the local Colorado community through our support of local women’s shelters: Tri County Resource Center and Starting Point. To date, Chicks Climbing has raised more than $150,000 for these shelters, making us their largest donor.
In 2003, Chicks with Picks was awarded the “Community Partners Award” by the State of Colorado and The Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence for our dedication to service and helping local women in need.
In 2006, Chicks was awarded the “Hometown Hero” Award from the parent organization Hilltop, who runs Tri-County Women’s Resource Center. Hilltop’s hometown heroes are people who, through either participation, volunteerism or working for one of the 25 programs of Hilltop, have made a significant difference in their own life or in lives of others.
