A Women’s Festival of Ice
Come one, come all to the FIRST ANNUALl, full-on, women’s ice climbing festival! The Betty Ice Ball offers half-day ice climbing clinics at wicked affordable prices, yummy catered dinners, public events (yes, boys too) and a networking frenzy. Sign up for the full package (that’s frickin' everything) or just pick and choose from our a la cart menu.
We are offering the opportunity be a “Chick” without having to sign up for one of our longer, standard, (more expensive) clinics. For those of you totally addicted to ice climbing and/or Chicks with Picks, you can attend one of our intensive clinics AND stay for the festival. Notice, the Betty Ice Ball is conveniently sandwiched in between our two most popular clinics: The Complete and The Sampler.
PACKAGES
The Full Package Includes:
Four half day ice climbing clinics, demo gear, three nights at the Victorian Inn, two catered dinners, our public slideshow/auction, music & dancing, beer & wine, a welcome packet and a our one-of-a-kind T-shirt. This is for those of you who have FOMO (fear of missing out) and don’t’ want to have to make decisions!
FOUR HALF DAY CLINICS:
Saturday Morning Clinic 7:45am - 11:30am: (choose from one of the following)
- Intro Ice (for those of you who have never ice climbed)
- Beginning Ice - footwork focus (less than 8 days on ice)
- Intermediate Ice - efficiency focus (8 - 16 days on ice)
- Steep Ice (intermediate and advanced climbers)
- Advanced Ice - techniques for thin ice (more than 12 days on ice)
Saturday Afternoon Clinic 12:00pm - 3:45pm: (choose from one of the following)
- Intro Ice (for those of you who have never ice climbed)
- Beginning Ice - the perfect swing (less than 8 days on ice)
- Intermediate Ice - hooking (8-16 days on ice)
- Intro to Leading (intermediate and advanced climbers)
- Mixed Climbing - techniques for thin ice (more than 12 days on ice)
- Self Rescue - belay escape (intermediate and advanced climbers)
Sunday Morning Clinic 7:45am - 11:30am: (choose from one of the following)
- Intro Ice (for those of you who have never ice climbed)
- Beginning Ice - body and balance (less than 8 days on ice)
- Intermediate Ice - monkey hang (8-16 days on the ice)
- Mixed Climbing (advanced to expert climbers)
- Advanced Ice - techniques for thin ice (more than 12 days on ice)
- Speed Climbing - fast and efficient (intermediate and advanced climbers)
Sunday Afternoon Clinic 12:00pm - 3:45pm: (choose from one of the following)
- Intro Ice (for those of you who have never ice climbed)
- Beginning Ice - energy conservation (less than 8 days on ice)
- Anchors and knots (All levels)
- Intermediate Ice - using the triangle (8-16 days on ice)
- Mixed Climbing - techniques for thin ice (intermediate and advanced climbers)
- Leading - screw placement and efficiency (advanced to expert climbers)

You choose! Create a schedule that suits your social butterfly, or not. Truth is, you don’t even have to sign up for a thing. You could come to Ouray to ice climb with a friend, not attend a single clinic and pay $ at the door for our public slideshow/auction & music.
BUT. the real fun of the Ice Ball is networking with other like-minded Betty’s, finding future climbing partners and perhaps leaving your sweetheart at home.

- 3:00 – 7:00 PM: Registration in the San Juan Room at the Ouray Community Center. Check out demo gear from the Outdoor Industry. First come, first serve.
- 5:00 PM: Women only catered dinner by Sandy’s Sunshine Kitchen. Pre-paid $25. Limited walk-ins $30 at the door. San Juan Room. Beer & wine included.
- 6:00 PM: Kick off meeting for Betty Ice Ball participants. San Juan Room.
- 7:00 PM: Annual public slide show/auction in the big room of the Ouray Community Center. $5 at the door. Everybody welcome!
