Description

We’re going to give the guys (and gals) a chance to get access to some of the most elite women climbers in the world for these new weekend Skills Clinics. Meet Kitty Calhoun, world-renowned alpinist, and fully-certified UIAMGA guide Angela Hawse. You cannot get better instruction anywhere!

Each clinic will focus in-depth on a technical topic such as: intro to trad leading, building anchors, multi-pitch techniques and more! Bring your thinking caps and note pads, you are going to learn more than you could ever imagine. Beginner to advanced climbers welcome.

Schedule

Skills clinics are open to ALL skill levels and are co-ed with an 8-to-1 ratio. We will start at 8:00 a.m. (sharp) and go until 4:30 p.m. Lunch is not included.

Meet in the Devil’s Lake Parking Lot at 8:00 a.m. to meet your guide and sign a waiver. Bring your own harness, helmet, shoes, lunch, water, pack, and extra gear for your specific clinic. You MUST PRE-REGISTER prior to showing up.

Park at CCC Trail Parking Lot (near the group camp sites) area which is located just east of Devil’s Lake’s south shoreline of the park near the statue of a Civilian Conservation Corp member.

Park fees per day are $7 for a day pass with Wisconsin plates, and $10 for out-of-state plates. For more information see the DNR Web site.

Saturday, September 11: Choose one of the following:.
1- Intro to Trad Leading Clinic: anchors, protection placement, safety, rack selection, problem solving and the head game.
2- Working a Project / Red Point Tactics Clinic: choosing a route, sequencing, eliminating errors, linking moves, mental training and breaking out of plateaus.

Sunday, September 12: Choose one of the following:.
1- Anchors Clinic: demo and practice the following: top rope anchors, lead belay anchors, rappel anchors and material selection
2- Intro to Multi-Pitch Climbing Clinic: equipment, systems, belays and stance management, hanging belays, problem-solving, rappels
