Indian Creek Lodging and Food Beta
What’s available & what you need
*There are limited supplies in Indian Creek. There is no gas, water, food, showers, cell service or internet.
Food
Each person is responsible for breakfast, lunch and snacks. A catered dinner will be provided each night. We will be in a warm climate, so minimize perishable foods and arrive with a cooler with block ice (cubes melt too quickly).
Water
There is no water at the campsite. You will need to buy enough water for the weekend or fill your own jugs – plan for at least 2 gallons a day and extra if you bring a sun shower. If you are driving, bring large water containers – fill them before you arrive. If you fly, buy gallon jugs at the store. The Gearhead in Moab (next to City Market) has free filtered water.
Grocery stores
City Market is the biggest store and it is located in Moab on the main street. They are open until 11:00 p.m. Monticello has a small grocery store. They close by 8:00 p.m. and they are closed on Sundays.
Gas
Gas stations are located in Moab and in Monticello. If you leave either town with a full tank you should be fine for the weekend.
Alcohol
Alcohol is available in Grand Junction, Moab and Monticello. Grocery stores only provide 3:2 beer – whereas liquor stores will sell a full selection of alcoholic beverages.
Camping
We will be at a campsite at The Hamburger Rock Campground which is located off of Highway 211, approximately 3 miles southeast of Canyonlands National Park – 17 miles northwest of Newspaper Rock. Please look for prayer flags at the turnoff from 211. Amenities include:
- Primitive camping
- Pack in/pack out trash policy
- Fire grates
- Fires are permitted in grates only
- Pit toilets
- NO water
