Hey girls, did you know that spring and fall are the two most perfect seasons to rock climb in the desert?! Get started in Red Rocks after that longgg winter at our spring clinic and get a jump-start on the summer.  There’s nothing like shedding those down coats for a tank top.  Then in the fall, we get to maximize our summer,  extend our climbing season & keep those tans before the snow flies and ice freezes for Chicks with Picks!

Optional activities at Red Rock:
Staying true to Chicks! passion for helping those in need, Kitty organizes a group to volunteer at the LV Rescue Mission soup kitchen for one night during the clinic. The volunteers will help to set up, serve and clean up after the meal. They serve between 300-600 meals to the community and need 20-30 volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering with our group of Chicks please make sure to let us know when you register and bring long pants and closed toed shoes. The organization is a Christian organization, but you don’t need to be a Christian to serve or receive a meal. The website is vegasrescue.org.

Red Rock Canyon is a world-renowned climber’s paradise, located only 17 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Named as a National Conservation Area, Red Rocks is comprised of multiple canyons cut into a 3,000-foot sandstone escarpment, and plays host to a huge variety of climbing options. With steep but moderate routes, long cracks and bolted faces, bouldering and short sport routes, there is something for every climber here. Although close enough to Las Vegas for a fun night on the town, the climbs at Red Rocks are hidden from the city’s hubbub, and wildlife still abounds.

We welcome beginner to advanced rock climbers with 5 different levels you can choose from. Our three-day clinic offers a 4-to-1 ratio followed by an optional multi-pitch day with a 2-to-1 ratio.

This program is presented through the American Alpine Institute and is led by Kitty Calhoun and Dawn Glanc, both of whom are AAI/Chicks with Picks and Chicks Rock! guides. The American Alpine Institute is an authorized guide service at Red Rock National Conservation Area.
