A New Zealander dividing her time between Salt lake City, Utah and Christchurch, NZ, Anna Keeling is an internationally certified UIAGM mountain guide. From ski racing and sailing teenage years, Anna moved into endurance sports (now known as adventure racing) in her early 20′s while a student. She won many NZ long distance kayak-cycle-run-ski races, including the inaugural Raid Gauloises Adventure Race in 1989 and New Zealand’s Coast to Coast race. Anna has worked on the film crew and raced in many expedition-length adventure races around the world. A return to adventure racing in 2005, resulted in a podium finish in the World championships.
Endurance sports led naturally to mountaineering, rock climbing and backcountry skiing and Anna became UIAGM certified in 2002.
Anna completed a degree in Parks and Recreation Management in 1990 and became a mother to Obie in 2006. Still hankering for adventure, Anna sailed to Tonga from the South Island of NZ in 2009 in winter gales in a 30 foot wooden yacht! In her spare time, in addition to climbing and skiing, Anna likes to draw, surf and read and has a keen interest in environmental issues. Anna is currently working towards a Masters degree in Environmental Management.
