Do you want to learn how to jam up desert splitters like a crack climbing machine?
Are you dreaming of kick-starting your spring with a dose of warm sunshine? Join us for expert instruction that will take your climbing to new levels and camaraderie by the campfire under the stars.  Indian Creek arguably has the largest concentration of splitter crack climbing in the world.

This clinic focuses on the jamming skills needed to climb splitter cracks and is appropriate for intermediate climbers (can follow 5.9) and more advanced climbers. The jamming technique is unique, and can be strenuous until mastered.  Once you learn how to climb various crack sizes, you will actually seek jams as opportunities to rest on trad and sport climbs.

The emphasis will be on movement skills such as: hand and fist jams, ring locks, finger stacks, chicken wings and hand stacks.  Our Chick Guides will provide a fun, safe and encouraging environment for you to hone your new skills.

“Indian Creek is hard and painful, yet the most rewarding climbing that I have ever done.  I didn’t know I could shove my body part in a crack and push off of it.  I appreciate the guides helping us learn and pushing us..  Now I know what it’s like when someone is called a dirt-bag.  I have developed a love for crack climbing since I know how to do it right and I use cracks on faces with confidence”
— Dawn R. new Chicks Alumni (with a gleam in her eyes).

This Chicks event, located in the heart of Canyonlands National Monument, is remote and self-contained.  Cell coverage is spotty at best, which allows you to devote undivided attention to this experience.  Breakfasts and dinners will be catered at our group campsite; demo crack shoes will be available as well as our Sponsor Gift Bags full of assorted accoutrements.  In true Chicks style,  participants will climb in small groups and get top-notch instruction from world-renowned climbers and IFMGA/AMGA Rock Guides with the highest safety standards. New skills, splitter cracks, and good company – just some of what you can expect from our Sixth Annual Indian Creek Event.

This clinic is being provided in partnership with Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.
