Training for Ice Climbing

Many of you often ask "how can I best train for Chicks with Picks"... well here is a complete guide to training brought to you by our very own Chicks with Picks guide and personal trainer, Caroline Parker ...

DEAR CHICKS!
Some of the most physically fit and capable athletes I have ever met are climbers. Climbing requires good strength to weight ratio, good cardiovascular fitness, good flexibility, and mental focus.  In fact, it is commonly heard that 80% of climbing is in the head!  While we're at it let's not forget technique, however, that aspect of this sport will be gained in the doing!

Fitness, specific to climbing, is complex and very important. Unless you're already a climber and in great physical condition, climbing specific movements/training may not be appropriate for your body and won't improve your experience. Start with examining your current training and your body as a whole before implementing additional or different training techniques to overcome imbalances and weakness, a great way to begin.

This being said lets look at some ways to implement advantageous training into your schedule in preparation for CWP! CLICK HERE.

Sincerely, Carolyn Parker
